CCTV released following alleged assault on teenager
POLICE have released CCTV images following an alleged indecent assault on a 16-year-old during a train journey between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham.
British Transport Police released the images today of a man they would like to speak to in relation to an assault which happened on Saturday, May 15 on the 10.39pm service.
The victim came forward after a police appeal.
Detective constable Chris Church, leading the investigation, said: "At around 11pm the 16-year-old victim, from Buckinghamshire, was sitting in an almost-empty carriage when a man sat next to her and began to touch her inappropriately. When the girl moved to another part of the train, the man followed her and sat close by again.
"This was an incredibly frightening experience for the girl, and one that only stopped when another passenger stepped in to check if she was alright. At this point, the man fled the train at Amersham station."
The incident was first reported by a witness, but officers were only able to make contact with the victim after police appeal posters at railway stations prompted her to get in touch.
DC Church added: "Who is the man in the pictures? That’s the question that I need local people to help me answer. I think he might have vital information that could greatly assist this investigation. If you recognise him, or have any other information, please get in touch.
"British Transport Police takes sexual offences on the rail network very seriously and will always fully investigate all incidents reported to us."
