A RARE white squirrel which was spotted in a garden last week has caused a stir in Loudwater as more residents report seeing the creature.

Last week the Bucks Free Press published pictures of a white squirrel taken by amateur photographer, Emma Tingay.

The squirrel is believed to have Leucism - a recessive gene in grey squirrels which turns them pure white, while their eyes remain black.

However, this is not the first time a white squirrel has been pictured in the area.

In 2008, a home-owner published pictures of a similar animal believed to be an albino.

The only difference between the two is the colour of the eyes with the albino believed to have red eyes and the former having black eyes.

Residents are now wondering if there are more of these unusual animals in the area.
