A PUB team has raised more than £2,500 for a charity which helped their son start to speak.

Jo Smith and partner Piers Roscoe arranged a beer and music festival at The Black Horse in Great Missenden on Saturday to raise money for Chiltern Music Therapy, which is based in Chesham.

The couple have been running the pub for the last two years and wanted to say thank you to the charity for helping their six-year-old son, Alfie.

Jo said: "Chiltern Music Therapy helped my son to speak.

"He had a speech sound disorder when he was at nursery and we came across them.

"He always liked music. Through therapy and music and playing different instrument they helped with his speech and development and breathing and timing."

Chiltern Music Therapy offers expertise in the fields of learning disabilities, mental health, brain injury, dementia and Alzheimer's, palliative care, neonatal and paediatrics.

The festival started at midday and continued until midnight.

There was a family focus during the day with a bouncy castle, rides, stalls and music workshop and there was also live music from various acts including Jess Harvey, Laura Tapp, The Wick Trimmers and Masters of the Tuneiverse.

Jo said: "We had hundreds and hundreds of people. I think over 1,000 people came through that field and the pub.

"It went very well, despite a shower at the beginning."

It will become an annual event at the pub
