DON'T miss the chance to take a look at 'The Way We Were' in High Wycombe, with an all-new DVD now available to bring to life the town's yesteryears.
This unique DVD combines old photos, cine film, up-to-date footage, and stories from the archives of the Bucks Free Press to present a fascinating look back at bygone Wycombe.
Covering the period from the 1830s to the 1950s, it shows the dramatic changes that took place in Wycombe during that time and recalls significant events in the town’s past such as, the coming of the railway, the growth of the chair-making industry, and the impact of two world wars.
It also provides glimpses of many aspects of everyday life in old Wycombe, including the days when stagecoaches rattled along High Street, the appalling conditions in the town’s slums, the controversy surrounding the Wycombe Hiring Fair, and the chaotic scenes that often surrounded the cattle market.
The DVD is produced exclusively for the Bucks Free Press. It is narrated by award winning actor, Howard Ellison. The running time is approximately 50 minutes and costs £15.50.
