A RUSSIAN soldier was executed by British troops in front of a baying crowd at Hughenden Manor on Saturday.
But don’t panic, it was one of a series of historical re-enactments in the grounds of the manor as part of its Victorian-themed weekend.
The re-enactment featured Russian snipers ambushing the Rifle Brigade on the outskirts of Sevastopol in 1855 during the Crimean War.
Visitors to the National Trust property watched on as British troops advanced and took down the snipers, capturing one who was later 'shot'.
