RESIDENTS of a Chesham street are being urged not to use their washing machines and dishwashers while workmen fix a burst water main this morning.

Pipes in Lye Green Road have burst, meaning residents are currently experiencing problems with their water supply.

Affinity Water, which supplies water to the area, has sent a team of engineers to fix the problem - but has warned people living in Lye Green Road they may be affected for some time.

In a statement to customers Affinity said: "Our repair team are on site, and work to fix the damaged water main is now underway. We do not currently have a timescale for this work to be completed. However, please be assured that we will provide an update as soon as one becomes available.

"During this time we ask you not to use any electrical appliances, that require a water supply, for example washing machines or dishwashers, and to conserve water from storage tanks during the time your water supply is interrupted.

"Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused."
