A NEW crematorium for Buckinghamshire will be built after a planning application was approved by a district council.
The application for the crematorium near Bierton, north of Aylesbury, was approved by Aylesbury Vale District Council last week.
The plans were put forward by the Chilterns Crematorium Joint Committee, which owns and operates the Amersham Crematorium on behalf of Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern and Wycombe District Councils.
Cllr Brian Roberts , committee chairman, said: "AVDC's Strategic Development Management Committee gave our plans thorough and rigorous consideration and we are pleased they granted us permission.
“The need for a new crematorium has become evident over the last few years, particularly towards the north of the county where significant development is taking place."
Construction is expected to begin on the site in the ‘next few months’ and it is expected to open in early 2016.
