TWO people died in a car accident near the Loudwater junction of the M40 this morning.
The two-car collision happened at around 5.10am and emergency services were called shortly afterwards.
Police have this afternoon confirmed that two male occupants of one vehicle were declared dead at the scene.
Officers have also confirmed that four other people were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries - initial police reports had earlier suggested that six others had been injured.
Officers have been unable to confirm any further details at this time.
The collision left the northbound stretch of the M40, between junctions 2, Beaconsfield, and 3, Loudwater, closed this morning as accident investigation work got underway, leaving morning rush hour traffic heavily delayed throughout the area.
The motorway was reopened late this morning.
