A HEALTH centre in Marlow has been praised for giving outstanding support to student nurses after being chosen for a top award this week.

Marlow Community Hospital was named ‘Placement of the Year’ from Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and University of Bedfordshire for its training methods and support.

The annual award is given based on feedback from the nursing students themselves, education audits and placement visits.

The students praised the Victoria Road health centre for the consistent approach to providing high levels of supervision and assessment, singling out one member of staff, Adele Buck, for special praise.

Accepting the award, she said: “It’s a great privilege as a team to receive this award. We are all dedicated to providing a high level of support alongside development opportunities for staff at Marlow Community Hospital and throughout the Trust.

“This award shows the hard work of the team and reflects our passion for teaching and to invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals.”

Assessment visits to the NHS hospital noted a “responsive and nurturing learning culture” as it prepares healthcare students to become nurses in partnership with the Trust and university.

Marlow Community Hospital provides a range of services, including podiatry, speech therapy and urology, as well as a team of district nurses visiting people in their own home.
