AN ICONIC Marlow shopfront could soon disappear if new plans to turn the building into flats get the green light.

An application was submitted to Wycombe District Council last week to demolish part of Jolliffes dress hire shop buildings on Chapel Street and replace it with houses and flats.

Last year owner Geoff Jolliffe confirmed the premises of the long-running family business had been put up for sale, but reassured loyal customers the business would look to relocate in the town.

And now large-scale plans to create six homes in place of the current corner plot have been revealed, including two three bedroom houses to the rear of the shop.

Jolliffe’s occupies number 48 to 54 Chapel Street, with all but the listed building at 48 to be knocked down under the proposals by Meteor Chapel Developments.

Number 48 would be turned into a four bedroom house, with flats making up the remainder of the road-facing block and semi detached houses to the rear.

WDC is expected to rule on the development by the end of September.
