AN ENTREPRENEUR from Marlow has been fined after waste was found dumped illegally by a road near to his home.
Thomas James Foster, 22, from Dean Street, pleaded guilty to a failure in ‘duty of care’ after around five sacks of packaging waste were found off Seymour Court Road.
The internet start-up businessman denied dumping the sacks himself, admitting during interview he naively paid a ‘man with van’ to dispose of it without making proper checks of his credentials.
Instead of being discarded properly, the domestic and business waste was found by a member of the public on February 21 this year and was traced to Mr Foster.
Magistrates fined him £300 and ordered him to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £600.
A victim surcharge of £20 was also levied – making a total to pay of £920.
The case was prosecuted by Buckinghamshire County Council working on behalf of the Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire.
