MARLOW will welcome a new face to the town centre from this month as a another pop-up shop opens its doors for a limited period.

Bucks-based online women’s fashion boutique Number 22 will take its first leap into a retail outlet when it opens its doors on Spittal Street on August 18.

The high-end boutique, specialising in new and exclusive designer labels, will open for six weeks.

It is the fourth business to take advantage of the offer from landlord Sorbon Estates - part of Shanly Group - of low-cost, short term lets designed to boost trade on the street after a raft of businesses vacated the area over recent months.

The move has been called hypocritical by some residents, who hold commercial property companies partially responsible for causing the desertion in the first place.

But property giant Shanly insists the short term lets will allow the firm to find the right fit for the street, and the town, for the long term.

Number 22 follows the Vintage Chest, Danny and Daughter and men’s fashion outlet John Doe which all opened in the three newly refurbished premises earlier this summer.

A further transformation of Spittal Street took a step closer this week as Shanly Group submitted a second planning application for its large-scale Windsor House development just a few metres down the road.
