A SCULPTOR who designed wooden servicemen for Hughenden has extended his talents to the National Trust's Ashridge Estate.
Ed Elliott sculpted five servicemen out of tree trunks for parkland at Hughenden, which are currently in place.
Following on from this he was invited to the Ashridge Estate to create two more large figurative sentinels for their First World War exhibition, which opened at the Visitors Centre on August 4.
Ed said: "It looks to be a really interesting exhibition. There will be a mock up trench inside the centre and these two figures installed outside.
"Again it's been a really rewarding time. I'm honoured to work on this project for the 100 year anniversary of the First World War."
The first figure is based on the Inns of Court regiment which trained at Ashridge and the second is a 'Tommy' with tin hat.
Ashridge Estate is a 2,000 hectare (5,000 acres) area of the Chilterns Hills near Berkhamsted.
The Ashridge at War exhibition takes place until August 31 from 10am to 5pm at Ashridge Estate Visitor Centre. It is a free event.
