NINE burglaries which took place in the Wycombe district over the weekend has prompted police to ask residents to remain vigilant.

Between Friday and Sunday there was a spike in burglaries, where cash and jewellery were targeted.

They took place in Lyndon Gardens, Havenfield Road, The Haystacks, Roundwood Road and Pheasant Drive- all of which are in High Wycombe.

And two took place in Hazlemere in Penn Road and Holmer Green Road.

Peters Lane in Monks Risborough and New Road in Princes Risborough were also targeted.

DI Rob Hood said: "Overall, the amount of burglaries residents in the High Wycombe area experience is still very low.

"However, we did see a spike in these offences over the weekend, where cash and jewellery were targeted.

"I urge anyone that may have information about these offences, or has seen anything suspicious, to call the police, using the 101 number. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers, free and anonymously on 0800 555111."
