SISTERS are doing it for themselves at a Marlow school after a pair of identical twins spurred each other on to bag five A* grades between them.

Beth and Ellie Potter, both 18, from Marlow said rather than becoming rivals, they put their heads together to study hard and come out with the top grades in shared subjects music and English.

And the inseparable Sir William Borlase's Grammar School pair are even taking the next step together, after having both secured a place reading English at Hertford College, Oxford.

Ellie said: "We worked really, really hard and it’s definitely the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but it’s great to have a partner for revision and studying.

"It definitely helped, as we seem to have an understanding between us, it’s always good to have a revision buddy. I’m pretty ecstatic and it’s also a massive relief!"

Beth walked away with A* grades in German and English, and picked up an A in English.

And she was just pipped by her identical twin Ellie, who received A* marks across the board in history, music and English.

And the pair said despite the two being so close, they insisted it was an accident they ended up heading for the same university and embarking on the identical course this October.

Beth added: "We didn’t decide to do the same course, we didn’t talk together about it. But we both wanted to do English and as we;re both so similar, perhaps it was inevitable we’d end up together!"

Sixth formers at Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School achieved its highest ever scores, with 83% of all exams awarded A* - B grades.

A staggering 52 pupils walked away with straight A grades or better, flying in the face of national figures which show a drop in the number of the very top grades.

Well done the Girls.

However this School need to work harder, 83% awarded A* - B Grades is not good enough for a Grammar School.
With the selected cohort they inherit, the fabulous parents and other resources, the results should be nearer 100%!

A few errors in this article (just to clarify);

Beth studied Music (A), German, and English and is attending Hertford, whilst Ellie is attending Keble.
