JOHN Hampden Grammar School students were celebrating record GCSE results today – the best, it said, in the school’s history, with almost 30 per cent of all grades being A*.
More than 40 per cent of students also gained at least 8 A*/A grades.
Assistant headteacher, Andy Wright, said: “We are delighted our students have been so successful – they deserve it after all their hard work.
“It must seem that we (and most others) always say it’s a record year but it really is and results have risen for at least the last six years.
“After last year’s results broke all the school records and with the changes to GCSE we thought things might even out this year – a real challenge for next year’s cohort.”
