A MALE driver suffered a head injury this morning and had to be airlifted to hospital following a collision on the M40.

The collision happened at about 6.50am between Loudwater and High Wycombe.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed a man had to be airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.

Police said the collision was between a white Mercedes Sprinter van and a Volvo tipper truck.

Two lanes which were earlier closed have now been reopened.
