A NEW fundraising group for a leading cancer charity have kickstarted their campaign in fine style this month, with a launch event in Wycombe's Eden centre.

The four-person Marie Curie High Wycombe Fundraising Group, consisting of volunteers Gillian Knock, Wendy Prosser, Eva Appleby and Janet Smith, has already raised thousands and is looking for more recruits to join the team.

All the money collected by the group will help pay for care from specialist Marie Curie nurses to enable more terminally ill people to stay in their own homes.

Nationwide, people are organising the Blooming Great Tea Party to support the cause, raising cash by baking cakes and offering tea at their own event.

Anyone interested in lending a hand to the group's fundraising efforts - whether by sparing an hour with a collection tin or to see what else the organisation does without any obligation - is invited to attend one of its informal meetings.

For information on meeting with the Marie Curie High Wycombe Fundraising Group or for a free tea party pack please contact the Community Fundraiser Hazel Bendon on 01604 258758 or emailing hazel.bendon@mariecurie.org.uk.
