‘ARE we doing a good job?’ - that’s the question from the leader of Wycombe District Council as over 4000 surveys land on doormats across the district from this week.

Randomly selected households will receive an eight-page questionnaire asking what people think of the area they live and how services could improve.

Questions include communication with the council, residents’ involvement in decision making and views on council services and projects.

Cllr Richard Scott, WDC leader, said: "We want to hear local people's views about the services that we provide and the local area as a whole, both good and bad.

"It's only by asking residents themselves that we can find out how we are performing and where there are gaps or room for improvement. If there's an issue, we want to know about it so that we can work out how to resolve it for the benefit of local residents."

Surveys can be returned by post or online, and will take around 15 minutes to complete. All answers are anonymous but will show what area the response came from.

In total, around 4,200 households from across the district will receive a copy of the survey through their front door.

The households chosen to take part in the survey have been selected at random from a postal address file held by the Office of National Statistics, but are representative of the whole district.

The number of households the survey will be sent to has been based on a response rate which will make views statistically representative and will also be weighted according to the district's demographic make-up.

An online version of the survey will be also available via the Council's website, www.wycombe.gov.uk, to allow residents who don't receive a survey through the post to have their say. The survey will be online from 8 September.

For views to be taken in to consideration, all completed surveys must be returned or submitted online by 13 October.

All returned surveys will be entered in to a prize draw for a chance to win one of four sets of £50 vouchers. Feedback from the survey will be available in December.
