THE sun shone at the second open air music festival in Marlow Bottom at the weekend.

The Rock Bottom Festival was held on a bigger scale this year at the village's playing fields after a successful first year.

Numbers increased from about 600 to 1,100 and there were bigger bands and bigger stages.

It was the brainchild of Jason Batten, Richard Moss and Barry Lynch to raise money for the playing fields in Marlow Bottom.

Jason and Richard carried on with the organisation this year.

Jason said: "The weather is good. There is a brilliant atmosphere- it is full of families and people getting on and dancing.

"We have been inundated with bands asking to play since last year."

The committee raise money to fund the playing fields and keep them in good condition.

Annabelle Sexton from Marlow Bottom said: "It is well organised. The weather is great. The bands and getting better and better.

"I live in Marlow Bottom- it is not a crazy festival- it is just lovely. It's great to see so many people who live in Marlow Bottom and Marlow."

Cleo Kent from Marlow said: "It is very family friendly. It is a real community event. We have seen other families you haven't see for years."

The Beat headlined the show playing all the hits including Mirror in the Bathroom and Tears of a Clown.

Tim James from Marlow Bottom said: "I think it is wonderful because I have lived in Marlow Bottom for 12 years. I have moved abroad recently.

"It is great to come back to see English countryside with a proper country fete atmosphere and meet friends."

Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge had agreed to join band Repeat Offenders on the drums, but was unable to make it.
