A MUM has had her hair shaved off in memory of her son who died from cancer, aged 15.

Amanda Dunkerton had her long hair shaved off last Thursday- seven years after her son, Rob Holland, died from Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour.

Since he passed away Amanda has raised more than £175,000 through RobsARTTT (a Rare Teenage Tumour Trust) to fund research.

She has raised more than £4,000 for her head shave.

Amanda said: "It is a lot better than I thought it would be. It is quite exhilarating really sitting here with a bald head.

"I keep going to fiddle with my hair and it is not there. I keep laughing to myself."

Rob lived in Downley and went to Holmer Green Senior School and Amanda holds an event every year on the anniversary of his death.

Amanda and her husband, Colin, had their hair cut at Spirit Hair Company in Downley. Six of Colin's London colleagues also had their heads shaved too.

She said: "I was very nervous but I just thought of Rob and all the other brave souls who have lost their lives to this awful cancer.

"This is nothing- shaving your hair- compared to what they have been through."

She has also recently completed a onesie walk with friends around the seven bridges of London and raised £550.
