A TOWN'S business community is set to thrash out issues with the council when the two parties sit down to talk to discuss the future of the town next month.

Tim Graham, president of Marlow Chamber of Commerce, announced the October 3 meeting with Marlow Town Council while addressing members at this week’s meeting of business leaders at Harleyford Golf Club.

Though no agenda is yet set, Mr Graham said he intends to follow up on concerns raised when Marlow councillor and Wycombe District Council leader Richard Scott fielded questions from business people at the July meeting.

Cllr Scott was grilled for around an hour on issues including parking, the Local Plan and the future of industrial areas like Globe Park.

Mr Graham said: "The meeting is to discuss ongoing issues, and there has been useful and informative dialogue recently."

High on the agenda is likely to be the ‘business czar’ – an idea put forward as part of the town council’s ten-year ‘Vision’ – which would see a representative bridging the gap between traders and politicians.

There has been ciriticism from chamber members in recent months that councillors are not doing enough to represent the interest of traders when much of Marlow’s revenue comes from tourism.
