A THUG has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for attacking and robbing a man in High Wycombe town centre.

Karl Day, 26, of Gomm Place, Wycombe, was found guilty of robbery and assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Amersham Crown Court on September 12.

Day and another as-yet unidentified man demanded a 25-year-old male hand over his phone and cash in the town at 3am on August 31.

The victim was punched in the face and fled before he was attacked again by Day and the second man, who stole his phone and money.

A member of the public took the victim to hospital where he received treatment for injuries to his neck, back, arms and face.

Det Con Alex Kratky said: “I am very happy with the sentence in this case, which sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate acts of violence such as were displayed in this incident.

“It comes as a result of a long, protracted investigation which lasted over a year to identify the offender and bring him to justice.

“He maintained his innocence even in light of the overwhelming evidence [against him]. However, he was found guilty by a jury.”
