A SUPERMARKET in Beaconsfield which has applied for extended opening hours says it has no plans whatsoever to keep its shop open any longer than its current times of trading.

The Sainsbury’s store in Maxwell Road says it was simply necessary to submit the application because of an extension plan that will mean a change to the store’s layout.

A statement from the store said: "We have submitted a variation licence application at our Beaconsfield store on Maxwell Road. The store already benefits from consent to sell alcohol from 6am until midnight but as we are in the process of bringing forward an extension to the store it is necessary to vary our existing licence under the licensing legislation.

"The application does not affect the opening hours of the store which remain 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. The licence application is for the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises only, There will be no sales of alcohol for consumption on the premises."
