A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been cleared of causing a pedestrian's death by driving dangerously - but jurors have convicted him of a different charge.

An Amersham Crown Court jury found Damien Yearwood guilty of causing the death of Paul Morris through careless or inconsiderate driving on Friday.

Yearwood was found not guilty of causing death by dangerous driving after he hit Mr Morris as he attempted to cross Station Road in Loudwater on August 14 last year.

The court heard the collision happened at around 10pm when Yearwood pulled out around another car that had slowed to allow Mr Morris to cross the road and collided with him.

The pedestrian suffered numerous broken bones and never regained consciousness, dying in hospital on January 3 as a result of his injuries.

Jurors were told Yearwood left the scene before returning ten minutes later, where he was arrested by police.

He told officers he didn't feel able to stop because of the lack of tread on the tyres of his Vauxhall Corsa, the court was told.

Yearwood, of Rushbrooke Close, High Wycombe, will return to court on October 17 for sentencing.
