A BARBER who has wielded his scissors in the same Marlow shop for nearly half a century was recognised for his services to the town last week.

Richard Silver has trimmed Beatles-style moptops through to punk Mohicans and modern footballer’s barnets since setting up his Station Road salon in 1966.

And opening his shop after first working for his father, the lifelong hairdresser has already chalked up 50 years of plying his trade in Marlow.

Talking to DJ Michael Eagleton on Marlow FM, the stalwart snipper was named the community radio station’s ‘shopkeeper of the month’.

The veteran barber, who knows most of his customers by name, is already planning a series of celebrations to mark 50 years of trading.
