FIVE fearless fundraisers donned orange facepaint before throwing themselves out of a plane in an Oompa Loompa skydive.

They were among a team of daredevils to don wigs and parachutes that raised more than £20,000 for Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.

The jump celebrated the popular author's birthday and also the 50th anniversary of the publication of his best known novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Bucks' team of fundraisers included the youngest skydiver, 16-year-old Emily Rose.

She was joined by Hannah Summers, Ryan Gillett, Morag Scott and Jules Reynolds in jumping 13,000 feet and plummeting towards the ground at speeds of over 120mph.

Money raised from the skydive will fund a nurse for the Roald Dahl charity - which is based in Great Missenden and provides care for seriously ill children and young people - for six months.

One of the nurses, Jodi Betts, took part in the skydive herself.

She said: "The skydive itself was a real test for me but it doesn’t even come close to the daily challenges faced by thousands of seriously ill children around the UK.

"I was thrilled to be able to give something to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity because they have created and funded my fantastic role at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. I was really scared about doing the jump but then I’d think of all the children I help and it made it all worthwhile."
