MORE than 100 dogs took part in a fundraising dog show in Stokenchurch.

Stokenchurch Dog Rescue held a dog show with fun classes plus kennel tours, stalls and sideshows.

Joyce Marriott, SDR's chairman, said: "We were blessed with sunny weather and hundreds of people turned up including quite a few who had adopted dogs from us.

"It was good to hear and see a lot of happy success stories from those people. Most of their dogs were entered in the show classes too."

Among the dogs brought back for the day was Millie, adopted by Claire Williams, of New Road, Walters Ash, in August.

Millie is a cross-breed and Mrs Williams, a canine psychologist and behaviour specialist, wondered how many breeds are in her ancestry.

She recently had her DNA tested and breeds were identified including whippet, fox hound and bull terrier. Visitors paid £1 each to guess what the breeds are and the person who guessed correctly won a £25 John Lewis voucher.

The main show class winners were; Best rescue dog, Diamond, owned by Kerry Barton of High Wycombe; Most handsome, Travis, owned by Julie Sadler, of Aylesbury; Gentle giant, Brian (Great Dane), owned by Lynn Redman, of Tetsworth; Best in show, Lexi (Tibetan Terrier), owned by Trisha Morris of Pyrton; Magnificent miniature, Ozzy, owned by Janet Green, of Chinnor; Prettiest bitch, Jay-jay, owned by Leslie Lamberth, of Burnham; Waggiest tail, Thomas, owned by Valerie Ditchburn, of Great Missenden; Best pup, Butch, owned by Richard Morris, of Saunderton Lee; Best veteran, Lexi, owned by Trish Morris, of Pyrton.

The charity is launching a new campaign to find foster carers for some of its dogs. Support and advice will be given to anyone able to offer fostering, including payment for vets' bills. For more information call the kennels on 01494 482695 or see website: www.stokenchurchdogrescue.co.uk.
