Two Hazlemere girl guides who organised a fundraiser for an animal rehoming centre donated the proceeds to the Blue Cross charity at the weekend.

Hannah and Suzanna, of the 3rd Hazlemere Guides, organised the sponsored run in July and managed to raise £234, thanks to the help, support and participation of their guides group.

Hannah, 12, and Suzanna, 11, were tasked with a community action challenge from their guides group and chose to hold the run in aid of the Blue Cross.

Both girls have rehomed animals through this charity and presented a cheque to the Lewknor Blue Cross branch on Saturday.

Hannah’s mother, Wendy Taylor, said: “I’m really proud of both of them. To see the way they got everybody organised for the event, it was great. Both Suzanna’s mother and I are really proud of them.

“Guides give them that responsibility of leadership, which is so important. All the girls in the group did so well to complete the challenge and raise the money.”
