A PIZZA waiter from Amersham is jetting off to Italy after being voted the best across 500 restaurants.
Konrad Cholewa beat off competition from staff in 14 countries to be named Pizza Express's waiter of the year.
Judges said he won the award thanks to the outstanding rapport he has with his guests and clear dedication - including personally returning a lost camera to a customer on the day of her daughter’s wedding.
Zoe Bowely, Operations Director at Pizza Express, said: "Our waiters are at the front line of everything we do so it’s really important that we celebrate them. Our competition is a hugely fun and engaging way to reward them, and a great way for other areas of the business to understand what it takes to deliver great service."
Mr Cholewa won £1,500, a trip to Italy including and an exclusive masterclass in Italian cooking with chef Theo Randall.
