THE police station in Princes Risborough could close and be amalgamated with a council building.

Bill Bendyshe-Brown, who is on the Thames Valley Police and Crime Panel, said at the monthly town council meeting the police station could close in 2018/19.

He said: "The view of the chief constable is the police now don't need to be in a static location as they are in constant communication with HQ when they are in police cars and on themselves."

Cllr Bendyshe-Brown said it could be part of the library, as it has done in other towns.

He said: "That is the sort of idea they are going down. It is on the chief constable's agenda."

Cllr Gary Hall asked if the fact that Risborough could grow considerably under the Local Plan has been taken into account.

Cllr Bendyshe-Brown said he did bring that up, which the panel were not aware of, and it could be looked at again.

He said: "There will be a base in Risborough, let's make that quite clear, but it is to lose the dedicated location."

Sergeant Andrew Deane said every couple of years they say the station will close and it doesn't, so he said it might not happen.
