SCOUTING royalty will come to Marlow this month when a descendent of the organisation’s founder leads a special ceremony at the town’s newest care home.
Michael Baden-Powell, grandson of Baron Robert Baden-Powell, is officiating a time capsule burial at Cliveden Manor, with Marlow scouts putting by important objects for future generations.
The new residential and care home is sealing the capsule on its grounds on Little Marlow Road on Monday, October 13, with residents also contributing.
The heir to the Barony of Baden-Powell is closely involved with the scouting movement started by his grandfather and helped scouts celebrate its centenary in 2007.
The 73-year-old will perform the duties during a visit to the UK from Melbourne, Australia.
Cliveden Manor Maintenance manager Peter Reade said: "We really want to get more involved with the community, and I have know Michael for over 20 years and we’re very pleased he’s agreed to officiate.
"We call him Mr Scouting as he cares about it a lot, and he does a very good job of it."
The home also hopes to commemorate the centenary of World War One, and will invite the Marlow Remembers WWI group to assist with the remembrance.
