A DAUGHTER who helps look after her terminally ill mother every day will have all her hair cut off to help raise money for charity.

Anjie Barrichello was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July 2012 and is currently a resident in Kiln Court, in Holtspur.

Kellie Evans, one of the 71-year-olds daughters, visits her every day and has now set about raising money for Stand up to Cancer.

On Friday, October 17, in front of Anjie and other friends and family, she will have her hair trimmed by her sister Rosie Williams.

Angie was first diagnosed with breast cancer but it quickly spread to her back and it is now very difficult for her to walk.

Kellie said: “I really wanted to do something for charity and I thought rather than doing something really scary like a skydive, I just chose to cut my hair off.

“For some people I think they get hung up on their hair and view it as part of their makeup, but for me doing this is just a small thing.

“It is my first fundraiser and I want to try and raise a bit of money for charity and also for mum.”

She added: “Mum was a bit shocked when I told her but I think she is looking forward to it. I am sure my sister will enjoy doing it too, but at least I trust her.”

As well as having her hair cut in the common room of Kiln Court, there will also be refreshments, a cake sale and a raffle.

Rosie said: “I think it will be a really nice day and it is such a generous and brave thing for Kerrie to do.

“Our mum will be really proud, even though she seemed a bit concerned Kellie was going to be getting rid of all her hair.”
