A MARTIAL arts expert put a group of students through their paces this month by teaching them self-defence moves.
Thorpe House School, in Oval Way, Gerrards Cross, became the school of hard knocks on Tuesday, September 16, with Year 8 pupils getting involved in the ‘Don’t be a victim’ workshop.
Martial arts expert Stephen Fincham was welcomed to the school by the boys and he gave them plenty of tips and displayed a number of self-defence moves.
As well as this he also used CCTV footage and role play to show the boys the types of situations which could leave them vulnerable to attack.
Student, Quinn Longman, said: “I found the practical section of the workshop really useful because Stephen taught us how to avoid aggressive incidents, but how we can defend ourselves if we ever need to.”
This was the eighth year-in-a-row the school had welcomed the Well Being Matters action group, with teachers believing the students greatly benefit from it.
