A LANDLORD rumoured to have hosted some of the Clooney wedding party in his Marlow bar over the weekend stuck to his guns when TV crews invaded his bar during lunchtime service.

Anthony Burnham of the Two Brewers, which reopened only two weeks ago following a devastating fire last year, refused to identify any patrons when stations including Channel 5 and ITV came knocking.

The interview was aired during the media scrum that was the wedding party of George and Amal Clooney last weekend at Danesfield House, near Marlow.

With national media and celebrity spotters out in force around town, the owner of the St Peter Street watering hole was pressed on whether he may have served the Clooney entourage, or even the happy couple themselves.

But the stoic publican remained tight-lipped over his clientele as a live broadcast was beamed to the nation on Good Morning Britain.

He said: “There were rumours that we are quite a celebrity haunt in Marlow, but I was refusing to tell them who had been in my pub. They tried to suggest their entourage had been in but I stuck to my guns.

“They barged their way in to the pub during the middle of a busy service, it was quite disconcerting but a lot of fun. They paid us for a load of drinks so who am I to argue?”

Mr Burnham said riverside pub has been packed since its low key relaunch after a 14 month operation.

He added that even if Mr and Mrs Clooney turned up without a reservation, they too would leave disappointed.

He said: “They can have a table if they pre-book, they’ll be treated the same as anybody else. We’ve been fully booked which is a good position to be in considering we’re off the beaten track in the backstreets.”
