5.The Beaconsfield Theatre Group present Flare Path by Terence Rattigan. It is the autumn of 1941. In the Falcon Hotel, RAF pilots and crew relax between bombing raids on Germany. Their wives are with them and share brief moments of companionship and peace. The pilots put a brave face on the unpredictable situation of war and beer and banter relieve some of the tension. Some of the questions raised in this funny, yet moving play - will Patricia choose her brave pilot husband over her old lover, a fading matinee idol? Will the Polish Count survive the next raid? Will Maudie's young rear gunner husband return safely? Rattigan himself served as a tail gunner in a Wellington bomber and beautifully captures the forties small talk and the deeper emotions that lie beneath.
