A monthly networking support group for adults who care for a parent with dementia is launching in Princes Risborough next week.

Changing Places hopes to bring together people whose parents have been touched by dementia and give emotional support and advice by sharing experiences and tips.

Councillor Carl Etholen will also be supporting the cause at the launch event on Monday, November 17 at 7.30pm.

The Local Area Forum (LAF) of Bucks County Council provided funding to kick start the project.

Organiser Helen Robinson said: “We have been very fortunate to have received funding from Bucks County Council to get this project off the ground and have the support of Carl Etholen and Prevention Matters which is great. I care for my Mum who has dementia and wanted to help others with practical advice and emotional support which I so desperately needed some years ago but just could not access this easily.”

Celebrated author Marianne Talbot, who wrote 'Keeping Mum', a deeply moving story of her experiences of looking after a parent with dementia, will be guest speaker at the event.

After the launch event, the first monthly get-together will be Wednesday, December 3 at 7.30pm.
