THE Tower of London poppies inspired pupils at Heatherton House School in Amersham as they held a week of remembrance events.
They began the week by making their own poppies to add to a commemorative World War One display in the school hall.
The girls then turned detective to discover how the war touched their families before sharing stories, pictures and artefacts with each other.
Medals awarded for bravery, photos of great grandfathers being carried off the battlefield on stretchers and Christmas boxes and Bibles were among the items that the home searches turned up for the pupils. Their finds have been collated into a book and placed in the school library.
A heroes dress up day rounded off the week, with pupils raising more than £345 for the Help for Heroes charity.
Costumes ranged from Emmeline Pankhurst and Jessica Ennis to Hermione Granger, while one little girl dressed up as her brother.
