A new charity fundraising group has been established in Gerrards Cross to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The group are getting ready for their first street collection in Gerrards Cross, which will take place on Friday, December 12 and Saturday, December 13.

They will be holding an information stall at the Gerrards Cross Christmas Fair on Wednesday, December 3 as they appeal for more volunteers to help with fundraising.

Linda Barnes, the group's chairman, said: “We are a new, fun group of volunteers wanting to make a difference by raising funds for Marie Curie nurses. If you feel you have some time to offer we would love to hear from you.”

They hope this will be the first of many fundraising events as they plan to host raffles, bake sales and more in the run up to Marie Curie’s flagship Great Daffodil Appeal in March.

The team of five local women are hoping to replicate the success of the High Wycombe Marie Curie group, which was established earlier this year, and have already raised thousands of pounds for the cancer charity.
