ACTIVE youngsters from High Wycombe can enter their half-term holidays with a hop, skip and a jump during a week of sporting activities.

The multi-sports programme is being run by Wycombe District Council (WDC) and children aged between eight and 12 who sign up will be able to take part in athletics, badminton, netball, squash and martial arts.

All the courses are being run by fully-qualified coaches who will teach them new skills and improve their existing ones, and each session will end with a match or competition.

Councillor David Carroll, cabinet member for community, said the programme was designed not only for those who already play a sport, but also for those who fancy trying one for the first time. He said: "We hope the programme will encourage young people to be more active and to have fun at the same time."
