A Buckinghamshire New University student designed fundraising lapel badges which High Wycombe’s mayor shall use to support his chosen charities.

Craig Wood, who is in his third year studying 3D Contemporary Crafts and Products, is the creator of the two-inch badges and 5,000 have been produced.

They are available to buy in return for a donation from the market in High Wycombe on Saturday, Tesco in Eden Shopping Centre and Priory Pharmacy, in Priory Road.

Money raised will go towards supporting Councillor Khalil Ahmed’s chosen charities for the year, The Cardiomyopathy Association and Diabetes UK.

Councillor Ahmed held a competition among students on BNU’s course before picking a winner.

Craig’s red and blue design combines a mixture of the logos of The Cardiomyopathy Association and Diabetes UK.

The money raised from the lapel badges will go towards paying for a sculpture dedicated to the charities which has been designed by Bucks New University Fine Art student, Deborah Mills. It will be unveiled in May.
