A Princes Risborough resident has celebrated her 100th birthday this month.

Gwen Gould, who lives at Icknield Court care home, celebrated her milestone birthday on December 2.

The centenarian celebrated her special birthday in style with a party at the care home, which is run by local charity The Fremantle Trust.

Family joined Gwen for the momentous day, including her daughter Dinah and son Graham, who flew over from Spain especially for the occasion.

Gwen moved to Icknield Court from Orpington in 2012, where she led an active life of volunteering with the Woman’s Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) and The Royal British Legion, which Gwen has been a member of since World War Two.

Since moving to Icknield Court, Gwen keeps active by joining in the activities, especially the quizzes.

Helen Jeffrey, care home manager, said: “Gwen is an amazing lady. She is still very active and even though she is quite deaf, attends all the activities and still gets a great deal of enjoyment out of life. Gwen has a lovely warm personality, a smile for everyone and is very popular with all the staff.”
