If getting fit is your New Year’s resolution, motivation might be hard to come during the winter months.

But whether you are eager for an intense workout or just running for fun, Monks Risborough resident Trevor Lynch is determined to help residents achieve their goals with a new community running event.

Mr Lynch has set up a brand new weekly 5k run called Risborough Run in the Park, in Wades Park, for those who enjoy running come rain or shine.

The keen runner set up Risborough Run in the Park after realising there were no local running groups in the area.

He said: “Unfortunately, the nearest ones are in High Wycombe, Aylesbury and Tring. I thought it would be good to have one local to Risborough, where local residents can jog, cycle or walk to the event, take part in the run and then with go home or go for a coffee with fellow runners afterwards.”

Despite only just being set up, Mr Lynch has attracted lots of keen runners to the group already and the more the merrier.

“I have had around 60 people register their interest with 17 people running regularly. Risborough Springs Swim and Fitness Centre have been very helpful in spreading the word.

"It’s going well, we're growing slowly but surely, in spite of minimal advertising. I think this has the potential to be a very popular weekly event!”

With agreement from Princes Risborough Town Council, the weekly run has started on a trial basis and the group meet every Sunday morning at 9am.
