A giant pink rowing boat will greet visitors to Marlow this weekend as a team of adventurous women prepare to embark on a record-breaking ocean row.

Emma Mitchell, who is from Marlow, will be joined by members of the ‘Coxless Crew’ – who are aiming to become the first female fours team to row across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco to Australia.

And with 100 days to go before they set off, the team will be joined by their pink boat Doris and former Olympic and Paralympic champions Naomi Riches and Heather Stanning on the banks of the Thames.

Emma learned her trade at Marlow Rowing Club as a teenager and will join three other women for the unsupported, three-stage row covering 8446 miles.

The crew will be on in Higginson Park, Marlow from 10am to 4pm on Saturday to publicise their record-breaking attempt.
