Burns Night celebrations in Beaconsfield helped raise hundreds of pounds – and a kilt – for charity as more than 50 members joined in the “stunning” occasion.

More than £350 was raised for good causes across Buckinghamshire with members embracing the spirit of the event, as one man even showed a bit of leg after donning his tartan.

The event on Wednesday, January 21, in the Beaconsfield Masonic Centre, Windsor End, was well attended with the happy lodge members bringing their family and friends with them.

Cliveden Lodge secretary, Timothy Gerrard, 48, from Chesham, was pictured in his kilt alongside 91-year-old piper Bill Simpson.

Mr Gerrard said: “It was a stunning night, given that the lodge had only five active members a few years ago.

“We have been able to re-energise Cliveden by stressing freemasonry’s core values of friendship, integrity, and charity.

“Let’s face it – everyone likes to enjoy a hearty social event, accompanied by your close friends and family.”

The money from the evening was shared between a number of charities, including Buckinghamshire Search Dogs.
