Brave police officers from Marlow who saved a man’s life by rescuing him from the River Thames are among those set to be honoured for their efforts tonight.
Sergeant Robin Hughes and PC Darren King - both based at the Marlow station - reacted quickly when a man jumped from Marlow Bridge last summer.
PC King secured Sgt Hughes, who then jumped into the flowing river to pull the man to safety.
And in recognition of their bravery, they will be awarded a commendation at a ceremony at High Wycombe Cricket Club this evening.
Inspector Scott Messenger, who heads up the neighbourhood policing team, said: "It’s unbelievable, it’s the sort of thing we all go in to the force for.
"To make such a positive impact and save lives, it doesn’t come around very often in a career and I’m immensely proud of their work."
Lane End officers PC Danny O’Driscoll and Penny Ling were also commended for saving the life of a six-year-old girl by resuscitation when responding to an emergency call.
