Firefighters took a few hours off from their hectic weekend schedule on Sunday to drum up support for charity in Marlow town centre.

Crews from Marlow Fire Station parked a fire engine on the High Street and raised nearly £600 for the Firefighters' Charity – packing up just in time to respond to an emergency call.

And Cookham celebrity Ulrika Jonsson lent her support, stopping to chat and pose for a photo with the crew while out shopping in Marlow with her daughter.

Marlow watch manager Richard Boast said: “It was a really good day, I’d like to thank the people of Marlow for their support.

“We also had a celebrity there, we dragged her off the street along with her daughter for a photo. Ulrika is very generous and always makes time to speak to us.

“We had a great morning, just as we finished had a fire alarm call and had just got to the station when the pagers went off, but that’s the nature of the job.”

During a busy weekend, Marlow firefighters attended a huge lorry blaze on the M40, two fire alarm call-outs and an fire scare at Frankie and Benny’s restaurant in High Wycombe.
