Reception pupils in Gerrards Cross have been talking to an Arctic and Antarctic explorer this week to learn more about his epic adventures.

Boys from Thorpe House School, in Oval Way, were full of excitement when they were given the opportunity to email “Arctic Mark” and ask about the huskies which pull his sledge and the most recent journeys he has been on.

They discovered he takes six dogs on the treks with him and on his current trip he is experiencing temperatures of minus 19.

School spokesman Sarah Melvin said: “The boys have learnt a great deal from these email exchanges and we have a sneaking suspicion we have one or two budding explorers in Reception now.”
