Wellwishers have rallied round a new mum who was diagnosed with cancer during her pregnancy, with a fundraising effort by her devoted fiancé raising over £27,000 in just one week.

Doctors discovered Nina Langley, originally from Marlow Bottom, had lesions on her liver when fiancé Ed Cusick brought her to A&E with what the couple thought were pregnancy pains at 34 weeks.

The 32-year-old was rushed for an emergency caesarean to prematurely deliver son Teddy, who the couple say is healthy and progressing well.

And friends of the graphic designer flocked to her aid, pledging thousands of pounds towards specialist treatment and organising a fundraising night next week.

Ed, from Flackwell Heath, said: "I cannot begin to explain the sickening weighted fear we are going through.

"After just watching her father pass away in October last year from brain cancer, being pregnant gave her that light at the end of the tunnel and helped pull her through.

"We have to hit this as fast and hard as possible with literally everything and anything we can.

"For my Nina to bring up our first newborn son, for our son to always have his mummy, and for me to always have my wonderful Nina. For us to just simply be a family. She is our whole world."

Nina has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma liver cancer and primary cancer in her upper bowel. She is due to undergo chemotherapy shortly after recovering from the birth.

Ed said the cash will go towards specialist treatment not currently offered by the NHS, which may be available to them.

Friends of the couple, who have since moved to Aylesbury, rushed to their aid and organised ‘Nina’s Fight Night’ at Court Garden, Marlow on Friday, March 6 from 7pm, with tickets £10 on the door.

The night will feature live music and a silent auction, with prizes pledged including a signed Chelsea FC shirt, a Mulberry handbag and a weekend break in Devon.
