A man was left with head injuries after he was attacked with a hammer in Naphill.
Police believe the victim’s head injuries came after an earlier confrontation involving up to five people in Main Road on February 18.
At around 3.45pm, Ambulance staff called Thames Valley Police to report that a man had been hit with a hammer.
Two of the five people thought to have been involved have been described as white, male and aged around 20 years old.
The man was treated at Stoke Mandeville Hospital for his injuries.
Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have seen a VW Golf or a black Mini with a white roof travelling at speed nearby.
Anyone with information should call 101, or to give information anonymously, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
